This is why I’ve spent some time testing HR software here in Canada. At ClickUp, we have our own challenges when drawing up HR goals: Highly diverse and multilingual talent, unique provincial laws, an aging workforce, complex immigration policies and work permits, and hybrid workplaces, among others.

I’ve realized that having the right tools in your arsenal is essential to turn this never-ending grind into a seamless HR workflow. If you’re keen to bring in software to improve HR planning and management in your organization, you’ve landed on the right article.

Based on my hands-on experience and the rigorous testing we’ve done at ClickUp, I’ve compiled a list of the 10 best HR software in Canada. I’ve also put together a list of things you should consider when picking one.

What Should You Look for in HR Software?

In the past, I felt overwhelmed sifting through the pros and cons of HR tools. Though the process of trial and error was taxing, it did help me arrive at a list of must-have features that one should look for.

Here are the key elements you should look for when selecting the right human resources software for your organization:

  • HR-specific feature set: Look for tools that take care of all HR functionalities, such as payroll, recruitment, employee management, and performance tracking
  • Automation capabilities: Being able to automate your key processes lets you focus on the more strategic aspects of work
  • Centralized employee database: Unlock the ability to streamline employee data management in one HR system
  • Customized dashboards: Make sure you’re able to configure reporting on key HR KPIs and metrics in one place with your HR software
  • Scalability: Ensure the software can grow with your company and handle an increasing number of users and data
  • Integration capabilities: The ability to integrate with other tools and systems your company uses is crucial for seamless operations
  • Security: Data protection and privacy are paramount, especially with sensitive employee information. You’ll want to ensure compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) at the very least
  • Support and training: Reliable customer support and ample training resources can help your team adapt to the new software quickly. Look for bilingual support tools, in case you operate in both English and French

The tools that I’ve listed meet most—if not all—parameters. It now comes down to choosing a tool that you feel will sit well with your team and your employees.
