Company Overview
Redeem International protects the homes and land of widows and orphans in Uganda. When a husband dies, family members, neighbors, and others often move in and evict his widow. Because so many of these evictions are carried out by family, they're often treated as family matters and rarely reach the justice system. In Uganda, one in three widows will be forced out of her home and off her land.
Land grabbing persists because the risk is low and the reward is high. Redeem works to flip that equation. Founder and CEO Jesse Rudy started Redeem in 2019 to work alongside police and state prosecutors to hold perpetrators accountable. It's working: in Redeem's first four project areas, land grabbing rates have dropped by 38 to 86%, preventing more than 30,000 abuses. Today Redeem has more than 130 Ugandan staff across 10 field offices, supported by seven US-based staff, with a new program launching in Zambia in April.
Story Snapshot
Redeem always had the data. The problem was getting to it. Assessments and court outcomes lived on paper or in scanned files, and quarterly results were counted by hand. Director of Administration Amy Rudy, VP of Program Development Jessica Kyle, and ClickUp consultant Jenna Smith rebuilt the workspace with ClickUp Certified Agents so casework and program data finally live in one place. Every form lands on the right client, agents handle the linking, and dashboards count what staff used to tally. As Amy puts it, the goal was simple: make it easy to get good data in, "so we can get good data out."
