Async Standup Facilitator

Prompts team members for status updates on their own schedule, compiles a structured digest, and flags blockers for the team lead automatically.

Collect standup updates from every team member asynchronously

The 15 minute standup was designed for colocated teams. When your team sits in New York, London, and Singapore, finding a time that is not the middle of someone's night is impossible. Some teams try rotating the inconvenience. Others just exclude the remote members. Neither approach captures the standup's original purpose: a quick, daily sync that surfaces blockers early.

The Async Standup Facilitator preserves the information exchange while discarding the scheduling constraint.

How the Async Standup Facilitator works

Each team member receives a prompt at a time of their choosing (usually the start of their local workday). The prompt asks three questions: what did you complete since your last update, what are you working on today, and is anything blocking your progress? Team members respond in ClickUp, Slack, or email depending on their preference.

The agent collects all responses and compiles a digest organized by team member. Blockers are pulled to the top and highlighted, with a tag linking to the relevant task in ClickUp. If a blocker references a dependency on another team member, the agent notifies that person directly. The compiled digest is posted to a designated ClickUp Doc or Slack channel at a time you specify (for example, 9 AM in the team lead's time zone).

Over time, the agent tracks standup participation rates, identifies team members who consistently report blockers (which may indicate systemic issues rather than individual ones), and highlights tasks that appear in "working on today" for multiple consecutive days without completion.

Why you need the Async Standup Facilitator

Remote and hybrid teams running agile or sprint based workflows where daily visibility into progress and blockers directly affects delivery. Team leads managing 5 to 15 direct contributors who need a consolidated view of team status without scheduling a meeting. Offshore or nearshore partnerships where time zones make synchronous meetings impractical for daily cadences.

Colocated teams that already run quick, effective 10 minute standups in person may not gain enough to justify the change. The Standup Manager (designed for facilitating synchronous standups) may be a better fit if the meeting format works but needs better structure.

How the Async Standup Facilitator compares

The Async Standup Facilitator replaces the synchronous meeting entirely with asynchronous prompts and a compiled digest. The Standup Manager helps run better live standups with structured facilitation, time boxing, and auto generated summaries after the meeting. Choose async when time zones make live meetings impractical. Choose the Standup Manager when the live meeting works but needs tighter execution.

Meet ClickUp Super Agents

Super Agents are AI-powered teammates inside ClickUp that take action on your work, not just answer questions.

You can assign tasks, message them directly, or @mention them in your workspace. They can create tasks, triage requests, update priorities, write content, and run workflows automatically using the same context your team works in.

Because Super Agents live inside ClickUp, the all-in-one workspace for projects, docs, and collaboration, they follow your processes and stay in sync with your work.
