How to Use This in ClickUp
Create a New Doc from the Template
Go to your project Space, click Docs in the sidebar, then New Doc > From Template. Select the SOW template. The Doc opens with prebuilt subpages for Scope of Services, Timeline, Pricing, Governance, and Change Control.
Fill In Project and Client Details
Replace the placeholder fields at the top of the Doc: Client Name, Project Name, Effective Date, and Contract Duration. These fields use ClickUp Custom Fields, so they also appear on the parent task for dashboard reporting.
Define Deliverables and Link Tasks
On the Scope of Services page, list each deliverable. Type @ to create a linked task for each one. Assign the task to a team member, set the due date, and add acceptance criteria as a checklist on the task. The task status will reflect directly in the Doc.
Set Up Milestone Payment Triggers
Create a Milestone task for each payment gate. Link the relevant deliverable tasks to it using Dependencies. When all dependencies are marked complete, the Milestone moves to Ready for Approval. Configure an Automation to notify the client contact.
Share with the Client for Review
Click Share on the Doc and add the client as a Guest. Set permissions to Can View and Comment. The client can read every section, leave comments on specific paragraphs, and approve milestones without accessing your internal workspace.
