Agent role: Operator, not just courier<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, I defined the agent&#8217;s role. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most systems are designed like this: If X happens \u2192 do Y<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s what we call simple automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I wanted was something different. That made the <strong>AI decision agent<\/strong> easier to control, test, and refine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the <a href=\"https:\/\/clickup.com\/blog\/how-to-write-ai-prompts\/\">AI prompt pillars<\/a> that make or break the quality of the decisions my agent makes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Role definition: Who is this agent <em>being<\/em>?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t just tell the agent what to do\u2014<strong>I tell it who to be.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc For the Asset Library Manager, I asked it to act as an:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cExperienced agency owner and operations architect managing multiple clients.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That single line changes everything. Now, when the agent responds, it does so through the lens of someone who has:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Managed complex campaigns across many locations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balanced capacity, impact, and brand consistency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learned to <a href=\"https:\/\/clickup.com\/blog\/how-to-avoid-duplicating-work-efforts\/\">avoid duplication and wasted effort<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Context and scope: What room is it operating in?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, I define the <strong>context and scope<\/strong> as clearly as possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which Lists, Spaces, or campaigns are in play<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What the asset library contains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What types of assets and pillars the agent should care about<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This tells the agent <em>where the walls of the room are,<\/em> so it doesn\u2019t wander into the wrong part of my workspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Decision logic: When and how should it decide?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I spell out the <strong>decision logic<\/strong>. Instead of telling the agent what to do, I defined how it should think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I specify:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When the agent is allowed to make a routing decision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which fields or patterns should trigger a recommendation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to treat different asset types or campaign phases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That way, the agent doesn\u2019t stop at generating ideas. It knows <strong>when to take action<\/strong> and what good decisions look like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Inputs: Which data does it trust?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every decision is only as good as the data behind it.
