This week, we\u2019ll hear from our Director of Engineering Nimish Gupta!<\/em><\/p>\n

When did you join ClickUp: <\/strong>July 2022<\/p>\n

Why did you join ClickUp?<\/em><\/h3>\n

In my past role as VP at TruckX, we used multiple project management and documentation tools like Trello<\/a>, Jira<\/a>, and Confluence. One day we came across ClickUp<\/a>, and everything was simplified after moving to ClickUp. We loved having all of our work in one platform, and it had a great set of features with better pricing for our startup.<\/p>\n

I loved using ClickUp for project management<\/a>, and it made a great impression on me, which was one of the main reasons for working here. I liked the ClickUp features and was surprised by the new features every week. I love working at companies with great products and real customer impact, which is the case with ClickUp.<\/p>\n

What do you do at ClickUp?<\/em><\/h3>\n

I lead the collaboration organization at ClickUp, which encompasses multiple teams, including Docs<\/a>, Whiteboards<\/a>, and notifications.<\/p>\n

Tell us what a typical day looks like for you.<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The first question I ask daily is, “What’s changed since yesterday?” ClickUp is moving very fast, and the platform iterates every day. So I need to know what’s different because that will impact all of our teams \u2014 and then I ensure that we’re aligned and that all of our projects are on track.<\/p>\n

I have meetings with my teams to understand what we can ship and the timelines<\/a>. How can we divide a bigger project into smaller milestones<\/a>, and do we have a plan to achieve those milestones? Do we need additional resources<\/a>? I’m always thinking about short-term and long-term goals.<\/p>\n

How would you describe the culture at ClickUp? What makes it different from other jobs you’ve had?<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

ClickUp is very customer-focused and obsessed with giving our customers the best user experience possible.<\/p>\n

Because of this, we’re also very fast-paced. We want to ship very complex features quickly, so everyone here is very agile. We have a very smart engineering team focused on building the best products for our customers. I love ClickUp’s culture and enjoy it every day.<\/p>\n

What do you like best about your job?<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

I like complex problems, fast-paced environments, and working with the smartest people. Thinking about scalability and accuracy \u2014 a big focus for us right now \u2014 is also an exciting challenge.<\/p>\n

I like mentorship, and at ClickUp, I’ve been able to coach people, teach them to ask the right questions, and ensure that they’re thinking strategically. That’s always very fulfilling for me.<\/p>\n

What’s your favorite thing about the engineering team?<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

They’re very passionate, innovative, and ready to learn. They want to solve customer problems, and I’m inspired by their curiosity and willingness to tackle complex and challenging problems.<\/p>\n

What qualities do you think a successful ClickUp employee embodies?<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

You must be customer-centric and always think about delivering the best product. The second thing is being a good problem solver. You have to be able to get things done. There are a lot of unknowns, and a successful ClickUp employee has the willingness to try. You also have to be collaborative and enjoy learning new things.<\/p>\n
