I loved sleeping in, I craved it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I had 10 alarms to wake me up. <strong>PLEASE, JUST FIVE MORE MINUTES! <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, at 20 years old, it all started to make sense. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. Not the type where I <a href=\"https:\/\/healthybeat.com\/sleep\/how-to-fall-asleep-fast\/\">fall asleep randomly<\/a> (although I have been known to do that), but my diagnosis is that essentially my brain never sleeps. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, the doctor says, I will never feel rested my entire life, no matter how much I sleep. I will always be chronically tired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2333\" src=\"https:\/\/clickup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/wake-up.gif\" alt=\"woman jumping on bed saying wake up\" width=\"734\" height=\"413\"><\/p>\n<h2><strong>No Solution??? Until&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The doctors told me that basically there was no solution other than taking amphetamines. I lived with this diagnose\u2026until I went to a Tony Robbins conference <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tonyrobbins.com\/events\/unleash-the-power-within\/\">\u201cUnleash the Power Within.&#8221;<\/a>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was a naysayer. I was that guy who thought Tony Robbins was for people that need motivation, a place for losers to go and waste money. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But I went through a remarkable transformation at the conference (and now I\u2019ve been back 6 times). I even take our entire team there once per year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the sake of this blog though, I\u2019ll only discuss one piece of it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I learned that Tony Robbins <a href=\"https:\/\/yhoo.it\/2LhfuQ1\">sleeps 3 hours<\/a> each night. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was stunned. Is this guy even human?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Train Yourself How To Sleep<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>He went on to explain that essentially \u201cmodern\u201d medicine is not as modern as we think. If you think about it, we\u2019ve really only had this era\u2019s medical professional for like 100 years.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The majority of this &#8220;knowledge&#8221; is based on studies with an essentially predetermined result, or at least heavily influenced by rules already in place. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A primary problem with many of these studies is they are ephemeral in nature. Instead of studying people that train their bodies for extended periods of time, we generally study a control group that has no \u201ctraining\u201d whatsoever. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this case, we don\u2019t study effects of people that are trained to sleep 3 hours each night, versus people that are forced to sleep 3 hours each night for the sake of a study. Of course the person not trained to do so will have an adverse effect on their body. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So I started wondering, <em>if Tony can train his body to sleep a few hours each night, could I?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Results<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first night when I got home from the event, I tried it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I went to sleep at midnight, setting my alarm for 4 am. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the biggest takeaways from Tony Robbins events is the empowerment gained from knowing <em>you<\/em> can change your state <strong>INSTANTLY<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of snoozing the alarm and getting back under the sheets, I <strong>JUMPED<\/strong> out of bed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But <em>man<\/em> I was tired and groggy. I grabbed a cup of coffee and pushed through the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ll spare you the next few days, but by day six or seven, I was waking up on MY OWN at 4am. I literally would wake up a minute or two before my alarm went off, as if my body were already anticipating it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was hooked. Remarkably, I actually started to feel less groggy and tired than I ever had in my entire life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2332 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/clickup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/chappelle_coffee.gif\" alt=\"Dave Chappelle coffee please\" width=\"711\" height=\"452\"><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Could You Only Sleep 4 Hours, Too?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So after 20 years of narcolepsy and no cure in sight, the unprecedented cure was to simply sleep LESS. Much less. How ironic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My narcolepsy was cured. I have 4 more hours in my day. <em><strong>Why the hell didn\u2019t a doctor tell me to try this? <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This was at a time when I built my first business so the extra hours mattered. I can certainly say this single enlightenment shifted the momentum of my life forever. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I know it sounds ridiculous but crank some music up and just TRY IT. After you do it a few times, you\u2019ve created a new habit, a new state for yourself. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will this work for everyone? Surely not.
